"The resort itself was very unique. The outside patio/firepit area was well done. It overlooked Looking Glass Rock which was an added bonus. Food and drinks were good. Problem was the tents. We always had the solid and screen openings zipped tight (top and bottom), however when we returned to our tent in the evening, we had to kill at least 10-20 flies and a few moths and a couple of spiders every night. The staff only made our bed once, emptied our small trash cans once, never picked up our dirty towels which we had next to the door for our 4 night stay. Also, in the evening there were children running around on the patio, screaming, knocking over lanterns while were were trying to enjoy our dinner. This should have been addressed by the staff. Overall, the staff was very friendly and were there within minutes of when we requested a ride to the lobby. Staff was 5 star except for whoever was responsible for daily tent trash pickup, making up the bed, taking out dirty towels. I would rate that a 1 star."

"Beautiful Setting, But Not the Relaxing Experience We Expected We gave Ulum Moab three stars. There is a lot to love about this property—the setting is absolutely breathtaking, especially the incredible views of Looking Glass Rock. The staff were wonderful throughout our stay: kind, attentive, and very accommodating. The food and beverages were also top notch, and the cold plunge pool was perfect for cooling off in the heat. Unfortunately, there were several things that made it difficult for us to fully enjoy the experience. One of the biggest issues was the amount of noise and activity from children. We experienced kids running around and screaming, including children hitting each other with s’mores sticks while we were trying to enjoy the fire at night. There was also a lot of screaming and running around the pools. We completely understand that families want to enjoy the property, but this really takes away from the wellness, peace, and relaxation that Ulum seems to prioritize. For the price and the type of experience being marketed, we expected a much more tranquil environment. The bugs were another significant issue. We had many flies and moths in our tent throughout the evening, as well as several spiders. We also found clusters of ants on our bedside table and ants coming through the floorboards of the tent. We were told by staff that there weren’t really any critters to be concerned about, but we actually saw a scorpion in our tent area on our first night, which certainly made us more aware of our surroundings. The heat was also intense—extremely hot during our stay. The tent’s condensed air system worked reasonably well, but there wasn’t really anywhere to escape to for true air conditioning. Even the main office and restaurant area did not have air conditioning, which made it difficult to cool down. Overall, Ulum Moab is undeniably beautiful, and the staff, food, and scenery are excellent. However, between the lack of quiet, the abundance of bugs and wildlife, and the extreme heat with limited opportunities to cool off, the experience didn’t feel as relaxing or restorative as we had hoped. For a property that emphasizes wellness and relaxation, those factors made a significant difference in our stay."

"We selected the ULUM for a stargazing and astrophotography experience. The location was a dark-skies compliant resort and was perfect! The staff was friendly, accommodating and very prompt when we texted for the short rides to and from our tent/resort restaurant and pool area. The food was amazing! The bar drinks so pretty and delicious! They do not have soda, so if you’re a soda drinker, be prepared. The luxury suite tent was very comfortable. Especially enjoyed the covered porch in the mornings for coffee (provided in tent) and the evenings as we stargazed and imaged. The tent was very clean with nice walk in rain shower. Loved the bedding and the Aesop toiletries! The views from the lobby, restaurant, outdoor seating area and pools were unreal! This was one of the most unique and memorable experiences ever! Top 5 for sure!"

"My wife and I spent three nights at Ulum with our two sons (9 & 12) in mid-August. The weather was less hot than is typical for that time, which was great (it was still very hot). Ulum is beautiful - tucked into an area between Looking Glass Arch and an imposing shelf of towering red rocks, the setting truly is second to none. Looking Glass Arch is right in front of you and a short 5-10 minute walk away, which we loved and we wound up climbing up it three separate times. Looking Glass Arch was not crowded when we were there, probably because it is a good 30 minutes away from Moab and about 40 minutes away from Arches National Park. That's the First Thing to Know: Ulum 30 mins from almost everything. If you have kids, keep this in mind because many of the tours and activities start pretty early when it's not too hot out, i.e., 7am or 8am. We had a 7am start on our first day (or so we thought, see the Third Thing to Know below), which meant a 6am wake up for our boys. They rallied and the adventures were enough to keep them going, but it can create logistical challenges. Which brings us to the Second Thing to Know: This is a luxurious place, for sure, but you're still in a tent in the desert. The small lobby area gives way to a lovely dining room with high ceilings and glass windows to take in the landscape. But breakfast doesn't start until 7am, so again if you have to get to town for an early start, you'll be grabbing something from a gas station or bakery on the way. The furnishings in the lobby are tasteful but you can tell that a lot of people have come straight from a trail and made themselves comfortable. And, while the tent is great, it's still a tent. We didn't spend that much time in the tent other than to change and sleep. We had both boys in one tent with us and it worked fine; some people we met had bigger groups and tried two tents with kids, and it sounded like the kids would go back and forth between the tents at night, so not sure how well that would work. The restroom and shower and sink were all in good shape, and the evaporative cooler was very helpful - we slept in cool and comfortable conditions. They have golf carts to bring you and your luggage to/from your car, but we and most people walked from our tent to the pool/lobby/restaurant area. That adds a few minutes to your day, but we quite enjoyed walking around the grounds and they have a few trails to the rocks that you can use as well. They do not serve lunch, which makes sense because most everyone disappears for the day to go on one excursion or another. Dinner was excellent, but the menu was the same all three nights. We wound up trying several different items and all were great, especially the burrata starter. They do s'mores every night at 7:30pm, with at least three or four large fire pits so it doesn't feel crowded and the kids have some room to roam. The pool area is fine, although it seems to be the most obvious area for an upgrade. Three pools: one hot (which is under the only shade), one fairly regular temperature, and a cold plunge. The cold plunge not being shaded makes a lot of sense, but the lack of shade in other areas besides the hot tub did not make much sense, and all of the three pools are modest in size. There are bathrooms with showers by the pool. That's nice because you can adjust the water temp in those, which you cannot do in the shower in the tent - it's one temp, which is reasonably warm. It would be nice if the showers near the pool were separate from the restrooms. The Third Thing to Know: Consider booking your own activities. Ulum has a nice "Adventures" tab on their website, which we used for our activity bookings. They booked everything they told us they would. But a few things stood out that would make me do the activities differently next time. First, because Ulum did the booking, Ulum got contacted if there were changes. Our stargazing got cancelled and we didn't get the information until the last minute. Also, there are 3-4 really well-established tour operators in Moab. We wound up booking three things (Arches tour, River Rafting, and Canyoneering) with three different tour operators, even though they all offer many/most of the same types of things. Also, we were told by Ulum that our Arches tour started at 7am, but when we showed up at the place downtown, they said it left at 7:30am; the parents reading this will appreciate that we could have used that extra 30 minutes of sleep. All in all, I don't think there is a nicer place to stay in or around Moab than Ulum. The 30 minutes from Moab means that you spend about an extra hour in your car each day than you would if you stayed somewhere in town. But the drive isn't that bad, and in my opinion at least, those places in town don't offer a stunning balcony where you can enjoy a first-rate meal while watching the sun set right behind Looking Glass Arch. A special place to spend a few nights, with a few things to know."

"Moab is a magical place and ULUM added to that experience. The tents were fabulous and the amenities were perfectly done to elevate and compliment the aesthetic. We enjoys the dipping pools and the food was delicious. The staff was friendly and happy. You could really tell they loved working there. Watching the sun set through the Looking glass arch was a gift every night! I highly recommend 10/10."
