Built in 1889 from locally quarried limestone, the schoolhouse at the heart of Park City's historic district educated the children of silver miners before the ore ran out and the town reinvented itself around snow. That building, with its distinctive cupola and steeply pitched metal roof, now forms the structural soul of Washington School House Hotel — a twelve-room property that sits on Park City's Main Street corridor, close enough to the ski lifts to matter but grounded in a civic history that most mountain hotels can only simulate. The interiors navigate the tension between the original building's nineteenth-century bones and a contemporary sensibility with considerable dexterity. In the common areas, reclaimed timber beams and whitewashed brick walls carry the weight of the old structure while modern sectional sofas in charcoal velvet, lucite side chairs, and large-format abstract paintings in reds and blacks pull the atmosphere decisively forward. Guest rooms play a quieter game — navy upholstered headboards, articulated brass-finish swing-arm sconces, dark-stained hardwood floors, and cast-iron radiators that the renovation retained rather than replaced. In the gabled attic rooms, raking white ceilings and crystal chandeliers give the spaces an unexpected elegance. Outside, a heated lap pool and teak sun loungers are arranged on a concrete terrace, the original cupola visible above the roofline, keeping the building's identity plainly in view.

"My husband and I have stayed in Park City multiple times and this was our first time staying somewhere other than Deer Valley. We have stayed at the Stein and the Stag Lodge, but the accommodations and attentiveness of the staff at the Washington School House far exceed anything we have experienced. Everyone working at WSH was looking out for us and it was nice to not have to think about anything we needed to do or plan. The food was phenomenal at breakfast and all the drinks/coffees we had were exceptional. The room was comfortable and I loved the Le Labo products in the bathroom. We were extremely upset that we didn't book a longer stay. We will be back in the future!"

"We had a wonderful stay at this charming boutique hotel last weekend. With only 12 rooms, it feels more like an elegant private guest house than a traditional hotel, which made for an incredibly relaxing and personalized experience. The staff was exceptional—warm, attentive, and genuinely committed to making every guest feel welcome. The daily breakfast was outstanding, with delicious offerings and thoughtful presentation. One of our favorite touches was the afternoon charcuterie gathering at 4 p.m., which created a lovely atmosphere and gave guests an opportunity to meet and socialize with one another. We typically stay at The St. Regis when visiting the area, but wanted to experience something right downtown. We are so glad we did. The combination of luxury, charm, impeccable service, and intimate ambiance exceeded our expectations. We would not hesitate to return and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a unique and memorable stay."

"Absolutely stunning hotel. Arrival was extremely easy and so smooth. Help with our bags to our beautiful 2-floor king suite with floor to ceiling window, very clean and cozy. I could have stayed in the room all day, but I was determined to check out the pool area. The pool - oh my god. A hidden oasis. A must-do during your stay. Then dinner in a gorgeous, chic room with beautiful chandelier and fireplace. The service staff was so gracious and friendly, the meal was absolutely delicious, and the beverages were perfectly paired. I can't recommend Washington School House enough - 6 stars if I could."

"The Washing School House Hotel and staff were exceptional. One of the best meals I've had in Park City - ever. The rooms were clean and updated...it was an intimate atmosphere were the staff knew us all by name...and even our preferences. The location was also fantastic...worth every penny."
