PB hotel design editorial

Directly across from Fiserv Forum, the Milwaukee Bucks' copper-paneled arena designed by Populous, a nine-story brick building opened in 2021 as The Trade Autograph Collection — its name a nod to the city's nineteenth-century mercantile history and its position within what was once Milwaukee's Haymarket district. Eppstein Uhen Architects handled the building design, establishing a facade that borrows the warm red brick and punched window rhythms of the surrounding warehouse vernacular while the upper floors step back into cantilevered balconies with a distinctly contemporary edge. The street-level curtain wall glazing, framed in dark steel, gives the ground floor bars and restaurants full visual permeability onto the arena precinct outside. Interiors carry a palette grounded in cognac leather, slate blue paneling, and warm walnut millwork — visible across the 220 guestrooms in upholstered platform beds, open steel-framed shelving units, and abstract patterned carpets that shift between charcoal and sand. Exposed concrete ceilings keep the industrial register alive without laboring the point. The ground-floor bar anchors itself with a double-height steel cage structure above the bartop, large copper pendant lights descending through the frame in a gesture that nods to Milwaukee's brewing heritage. The upper-floor restaurant pulls the city into the room through floor-to-ceiling glazing, slatted timber ceiling baffles and a lit wine wall providing warmth against the downtown skyline beyond.

"The best hotel in Wisconsin, and one of the best in The Midwest! The location is great, the atmosphere is inviting, and the rooms are always clean and polished. The staff exudes exceptional customer service and are very accommodating allowing for a top tier stay. Of the 150+ nights I had with Marriott last year, 90% of those were at The Trade! I love staying here, the restaurants located inside have great food! The rooftop bar is one of my favorites in the spring and summer! Immaculate views, great music, and overall good vibes. Austin has done a great job managing the valet team! Their service is impeccable matched with hard work!"
