PB hotel design editorial

At the edge of downtown Jackson, where the Tetons announce themselves above the roofline on clear mornings, a three-storey structure clad in rough-cut local stone and heavy timber framing has anchored the corner of Pearl Avenue since 1990. The Rusty Parrot Lodge & Spa was conceived from the outset as something closer to a grand Wyoming ranch house than a conventional hotel — a building that draws its authority from the landscape rather than from imported references. The exterior layering visible in the rendered images, with fieldstone piers rising to meet exposed timber bents and wide bracketed eaves, follows a vernacular logic rooted in the mountain West rather than the European alpine tradition that many Jackson properties default to. Inside, the interiors carry that sensibility through with consistency. Guest rooms pair upholstered headboards in sage green or warm grey with dark walnut casegoods, plaid drapery, and geometric-patterned carpeting that echoes traditional Navajo weaving without quoting it directly. Western landscape paintings hang in dark wood frames throughout, grounding the spaces in regional art history. The bar and lounge area — coffered ceilings in stained timber, a stone fireplace flanked by floor-to-ceiling wine storage, distressed leather sofas on a striped wool rug — achieves the atmosphere of a private club that happens to have opened its doors. The dining room continues the language: curved banquettes in caramel leather, arched stone openings, and brass-accented table lamps warming the whole room from below.

"We had not been to Jackson Hole for many years and were looking forward to returning to the Rusty Parrot Lodge. We were thrilled to see the newly designed hotel. From the moment we arrived and throughout our stay the management and staff were fantastic. There was always someone available for any of our needs. Jennifer, the manager is a gem, always smiling and eager to make sure our stay was everything we expected. The hotel has many comfortable areas to sit and visit and the restaurant is in a lovely setting with large windows to see the view. Our guest room was nicely furnished with a very comfortable king size bed accompanied by a cuddly teddy bear. The bathroom was large with a tub and shower and a large sink area for two to use. There was plenty of closet and drawer space which many hotels lack. The lighting was well thought out with various adjusting options. There is also a very large screen TV and they offer both the local and On Demand shows as well as some streaming. That is a treat since we have found some nice hotels not offering streaming. We highly recommend the Rusty Parrot for the location which is in walking distance to shops and restaurants as well for its great staff and beautiful decor."

"We may have received the best customer service ever at The Rusty Parrot Lodge & Spa. Whether it was Isaiah the valet, the room attendants, front desk, Kevin our waiter at the Wild Sage, or the massage therapist Julie had, they were all singularly focused on making us comfortable and enjoy our time. The hotel itself was beautiful, clean, uniquely updated in every way and thoughtfully stocked. The perch patio was a favorite morning spot to watch the sun come up, while listening to the geese across the street by the Snake River, after grabbing my complimentary coffee in the 2nd floor beverage counter. The 3pm delicious chocolate chip cookies placed here each day was a special treat. The Wild Sage restaurant really deserves its own 5 star review. Best breakfast and dinner I have had in a long time. The sweet folks at the front desk sent us off with snacks, can water, and bear spray each day we went hiking. My wife is still raving about her massage. Just a perfect stay."

"Our stay at the Rusty Parrot this week was nothing short of exceptional. While the property holds a AAA Four Diamond rating, the level of service we received was top-rate and consistently outperformed other 5-star hotels in the area. From the moment we arrived, every single staff member made us feel like family. A huge thank you to: • Valet & Front Desk: For the warm welcome and in so formative, kind check-in process. • Housekeeping: For the incredible attention to detail that made our room feel like a sanctuary. • Onsite Restaurant: Both breakfast and dinner were absolutely delicious. The culinary team and servers truly understand the art of exceptional service. It is rare to find a place where every department is this attentive and synchronized. If you are looking for luxury with a genuine, personal touch in Jackson, this is it.""

"A really fantastic stay in Jackson. This hotel does all of the little things right. From chocolates at night, to the hot apple cider and cookies in the evenings, to the water available anytime all day both as bottled water and glasses of water in the lobby, there are so many little touches that make the stay a step above. The restaurant is excellent for breakfast. The team here is all so friendly and helpful. The rooms are quiet, windows open a little bit, and the HVAC system works well. Would highly recommend and I hope we can return again someday. Perhaps the only suggestion for improvement that we would have is ski shuttle service to Jackson Hole later in the morning, but we understand that for a smaller hotel, it may not be practical to run a shuttle all day."
