PB hotel design editorial

Con Au Islet, a sliver of land cradled by the Mekong's branching channels on the outskirts of Can Tho, gives Legacy Mekong its defining premise: a resort that draws its entire spatial logic from the delta's agricultural cadence rather than imposing a generic tropical template onto it. Low-slung pavilion villas arranged in rows along the waterways mirror the rhythm of Vietnamese riverside settlements, their dark-tiled pitched roofs and warm timber-framed facades glowing amber at dusk against the tree line — the effect closer to a prosperous Mekong village than a conventional hotel compound. Inside, the material language is consistently warm and locally inflected: dark hardwood floors, woven rattan pendant lights, teak-framed louvered doors that dissolve the boundary between bedroom and private garden, and textured bamboo-panel headboards lit from recessed coves above. The open-air bar pavilion develops the vocabulary further — hand-painted encaustic cement tiles underfoot, carved wooden lattice screens referencing traditional Vietnamese joinery, round white-plastered columns supporting an exposed timber roof structure that channels the vernacular architecture of the Mekong lowlands without tipping into pastiche. Villa bedrooms are generously proportioned, with floor-to-ceiling glazing on two or three sides drawing in the surrounding paddy green and formal tropical garden, furniture scaled with the unhurried confidence of a well-considered private residence rather than a resort room dressed to photograph.

"During our stay at Legacy Mekong Can Tho, my family and I were truly impressed by the friendliness of the staff. The reception team was welcoming and helpful from the moment we arrived. The pool bar staff were attentive and created a relaxing atmosphere by the pool and the restaurant team provided excellent service. We would especially like to thank Huyền from the restaurant who served us during dinner. She was incredibly friendly, attentive, and always had a warm smile, which made the dining experience even more enjoyable. The food at the hotel was also a highlight of our stay. Thank you very much to all the staff at the hotel for your kindness and great service. It truly made our stay memorable."

"We arrived from all the fantastic hustle and bustle of the Mekong river to what we at first thought was a sanctuary, a few days down time from a busy tour. The centre of the hotel is set around a very nice & large pool, where you sun bath and also eat breakfast, lunch and dinner. If you’re lucky enough to experience the hotel with well behaved children I’m sure you would rate 4 or 5, we were not! We experienced the hotel with a group of friends that had six, loud & unruly children with bazooka water guns. Most couples had to suffer loud unruly behaviour through out the day. One couple spoke to their parents, we spoke to the manager but still it continued 🤦🏻‍♂️and ruined our stay. Unbelievably, there is a kids pool, but no one enforced it. By the way we have four children of our own and we’re lucky enough to go on five star holidays and have amazing fun but would never allow our children to ruin other people’s peaceful time. On a positive note the staff are lovely and try so hard to please. The food is very nice."
