PB hotel design editorial

Indochine nostalgia, deployed with genuine architectural conviction rather than surface decoration, defines the atmosphere of The Anam Mui Ne from the moment the coconut-palm-lined arrival axis comes into view. Set along the South China Sea coast near Phan Thiet, the resort draws its visual language from the French colonial period filtered through Central Vietnamese craft traditions — white-rendered facades articulated with dark timber balustrades, terracotta-tiled rooflines, and a garden layout whose long reflecting pools and clipped lawn corridors carry the formal geometry of a Cochinchinese plantation estate. The 90-room property spreads across low-rise pavilion blocks, their massing kept deliberately human in scale, the South China Sea visible at the end of every garden axis. Inside, the same sensibility deepens into material specificity. The restaurant pavilion, framed by exposed hardwood trusses and open to sea breezes at its far end, is floored in encaustic cement tiles whose geometric patterns reappear in the guest villas — a recurring motif that stitches the interiors together without feeling programmatic. Rattan cane chairs with turned dark-timber frames, Hoi An silk lanterns in cream and amber, carved lattice screens dividing sleeping from living zones, and steep pitched ceilings lined with woven rattan panels give each room the unhurried character of a well-appointed colonial residence. The blue diamond-patterned cushions and lotus-garden canvases above the beds add colour without disturbing the palette's essential warmth.

"Lovely hotel with friendly staff. An oasis at the end of a busy trip around Vietnam. Elegant surroundings, dark wood, low lighting, very atmospheric. Romantic setting but also good for families."

"One of the best hotels we've stayed in !!! Every detail thought about, even down to the bed turn down each night, slippers placed at bedside, chocolates and a lovely message. Rooms are spacious with everything you need. Hotel is tastefully decorated, spotless and calming. Breakfast buffet is superb, I'm fussy but came away full. However the Jews un the crown of this hotel are the wonderful staff!!! Every single one of them has a smile, a happy greeting and will help anyway they can. We'd barely left our rooms and the pool man had our beds ready. Some nationalities barely gave them a second glance but it's worth giving them a moment of your time as they were the loveliest people and appreciated the chats. Keep up the good work !!!"

"Having come straight from the sister resort in Cam Ranh, it was always going to be difficult not to do a direct comparison of the two locations, particularly as we had such a wonderful stay in Cam Ranh. We had expected the vibe to be very different i.e. resort v large boutique style property, and it was as expected, including the guest profile/mix. The Hotel General Manager Peter Ye graciously welcomed us on our arrival and was also present to say goodbye on our departure, we experienced a smooth and fast check in. The Anam Mui Ne has that same Indochine style and the rooms are spacious, clean and very comfortable. Operationally the two hotels do have their differences and we had expected the newer Mui Ne to be better than its sister hotel. From what we could see, the Anam is probably one of the better hotels if not the best in Mui Ne. We did find food and beverage pricing to be quite expensive relative to our other experiences in Vietnam, including HCM. Included in minor areas for improvement would be the opening of the pool/beach bar times which we thought were quite late at 11:00 am. We ended up buying coconut water each morning from the beach vendors. There did seem on the surface to be a small shortage of F & B team members. The hotel looked to be running at full or nearly full occupancy during our stay, but we had high expectations and did expect service to be a bit more attentive. Not disastrous, but not best in class either. Overall, we had a nice 4 day stay and would like to thank Peter Ye for the courtesies shown"

"We had a wonderful experience at The Anam Mui Ne. The hotel is stunning, featuring elegant colonial architecture surrounded by a lush tropical garden. The evening lounge music was a highlight, with a very talented pianist, and the morning performances with a piano and violin duet were equally delightful. The breakfast buffet was well balanced and offered a good selection of international cuisine. Our room was very comfortable and enjoyed a partial ocean view, which added to the overall experience. The two swimming pools—one freshwater and one saltwater—were spacious and very inviting. A special mention goes to the hotel staff for their exceptional service and warm hospitality throughout our stay. Mui Ne is well known as a kite-surfing destination, and it is quite a spectacle to watch the colorful kites dancing over the ocean. Our only suggestion for the hotel would be to consider reserving a designated swimming area in the sea, ensuring guests can swim safely without the risk of kite surfers passing too close."
