Dropped into the southern tip of Phu Quoc island as part of VinGroup's elaborately staged Sunset Town development, La Festa Phu Quoc, Curio Collection by Hilton presents one of Southeast Asia's more unusual propositions: a Mediterranean townscape — terracotta rooflines, ochre and rose-washed facades, a campanile borrowed from Venice's Piazza San Marco — built wholesale on a Vietnamese beach and meant to be taken seriously as a hotel rather than a theme park. The aerial view confirms the ambition: cobblestone piazzas, a triumphal arch, an infinity pool running the length of the building's seaward flank, palm groves pressing against the sand, and beyond it all, the South China Sea at dusk. Inside, the design pivots away from the pastiche logic of the exterior and toward something more considered. The double-height bar carries a warm copper and dark granite palette — backlit arched cabinetwork, mosaic floors in a monochrome geometric pattern, leather-and-brass bar stools with the proportions of mid-century Italian café furniture. Guest rooms sit beneath barrelled plaster ceilings with arched windows framing sea or townscape views, the interiors furnished in burnt orange and teal against warm timber headboards and terrazzo-tiled floors, circular artworks functioning as the primary decorative gesture. The effect throughout is of a Southern European resort filtered through a contemporary Vietnamese sensibility, brighter and less literal than its architectural shell might suggest.
