PB hotel design editorial

Planted on Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street in Ho Chi Minh City's District 3, within sight of the Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica, the building that houses Hotel des Arts Saigon rises 25 floors above a neighbourhood where French colonial architecture and Vietnamese modernism exist in perpetual, productive tension. Completed in 2015 under the MGallery banner, the property was conceived as a tribute to Saigon's bohemian artistic heritage — the salons, ateliers, and expatriate creative circles that shaped the city through the mid-twentieth century. The interiors carry that sensibility through every surface: guest rooms finished in herringbone-parquet timber floors, geometric plasterwork ceilings that echo Art Deco lacquerwork, curved arched windows framing panoramic views of the city canopy, and pendant lanterns in filigreed brass that reference both Vietnamese craft tradition and 1930s European decorative arts. Headboards in dark wood with cream upholstered panels, sculptural rattan-shade pendants, and handwoven cushion textiles complete a palette of warm ivory, caramel, and burnished gold. The upper floors are where the building declares itself most fully. The rooftop Social Club bar layers teak slatted canopies over seagrass-stool counter seating and woven rattan chairs cushioned in indigo, while the enclosed sky lounge above — visible in the night exterior — shifts register entirely: dark-panelled walls, amber-lit clustered glass pendant clusters, parquet floors, and velvet club chairs arranged against floor-to-ceiling glass, the city laid out below in a manner closer to a private collector's apartment than a hotel bar.

"We had the pleasure of staying at Hotel des Arts Saigon - MGallery Collection for three nights from 17th March as part of our tour of Vietnam, and it proved to be a wonderful choice for our stay in the city. The hotel is perfectly situated right in the centre of Ho Chi Minh City, making it an ideal base for exploring. Many of the main attractions are within easy reach, and we found it very convenient to head out on foot and discover the city. We stayed in a Sky Executive Grand Deluxe King Room on the 21st floor. While the room wasn’t the largest we’ve stayed in, it was beautifully appointed with everything thoughtfully arranged. The décor felt elegant and refined, and the bed was exceptionally comfortable — we slept very well each night after busy days of sightseeing. One of the highlights of booking an executive-level room was access to the Executive Lounge on the 22nd floor. This was a fantastic perk and really enhanced our stay. Guests have the option to enjoy an à la carte breakfast in the lounge, although we chose to dine in the main restaurant, which was superb with an extensive and high-quality selection. The Executive Lounge itself was a real treat. Each afternoon, it offered a lovely afternoon tea service for a couple of hours, which then transitioned into evening cocktails and canapés. We certainly made the most of this and found it a relaxing way to unwind before heading out for the evening. We also appreciated being able to use the lounge for both check-in and check-out, which felt far more personal and relaxed than the main reception area. The hotel’s rooftop pool and bar were another highlight. The views across the city were fantastic, and we used the pool a couple of times after returning from our day trips to cool off and refresh. In the evenings, the bar area became very lively with a resident DJ, creating a great atmosphere. The cocktails were excellent, and it was a fun place to spend time without even needing to leave the hotel. The staff throughout the hotel were consistently friendly, welcoming, and attentive, adding to the overall experience. There is also a Michelin-starred restaurant within the hotel, The Albion by Kirk Westaway. Although we didn’t dine there, we did stop by for a drink at the bar and found it to be very stylish and welcoming. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The combination of an excellent location, stylish and comfortable accommodation, excellent facilities, and the added benefits of executive lounge access made this hotel a standout stop on our Vietnam tour. We would happily recommend it to other couples visiting Ho Chi Minh City."

"My wife and I stayed here for a total of 6 nights. We had a few minor issues with our first room. My wife emailed the hotel manager and promptly received a reply. We were then upgraded to a nicer room. They even surprised us with 2 compliment bottles of wine. The staff provided us unparallel, outstanding and friendly services throughout our stay here. One time, I forgot my brand-new iPhone by the pool. The bartender called my room to let me know he saw it and suspected it was mine. On another occasion, I didn't have money on me to pay for a Grab drive, Mr. Van Duy Tran graciously helped me out and paid the driver with his own money. Thank you, Van! Thanks to all the wonderful staff at Hotel Des Arts Saigon for making our stay very special and memorable. We'll be back!"
