PB hotel design editorial

Five Italian design houses — Boca do Lobo, Bretz, Cornelio Cappellini, Giorgetti, and Visionnaire — were each handed different floors of The Reverie Saigon and asked to furnish them as they saw fit, a commissioning strategy that produced one of Southeast Asia's most theatrically layered hotel interiors. The property is housed within Times Square Building, a 39-floor tower on Dong Khoi Street in Ho Chi Minh City's District 1, its curtain wall of vertical blue-lit fins rising above the colonial-era streetscape with a confidence that reads more Milanese commercial than Indochinese. Opened in 2015 with 286 rooms and suites across its upper floors, the hotel carries an interior character that swings between registers — deepest plum and polished rosewood in the fine-dining restaurant, where lacquered fretwork screens and mirrored ceiling grids evoke a cinematic interpretation of Chinoiserie, and then upstairs, rooms where deep-buttoned velvet headboards, hand-plastered acanthus ceilings, and Louis XV-style bombé commodes compress a century of European decorative excess into spaces commanding panoramic views of the Saigon River. The lounge floors above deploy gold-leafed damask panels, tufted barrel chairs in cream leather, and brass-framed mirrored tables beneath Murano-style rod chandeliers — a composition that feels closer to a Venetian palazzo reimagined for the tropics than anything conventionally Asian. It is an unapologetically maximalist proposition, and in a city accelerating as rapidly as Ho Chi Minh City, the sheer commitment to excess gives the Reverie an identity that more restrained properties in the market cannot match.

"This was one of the classiest, fanciest hotels we've been to. Centrally located in a lovely and walkable part of the city with a view that kept going. Absolutely lovely and really nice to enjoy, but can't talk about value because it was bundled in with other activities."

"The Reverie Saigon is one of the most stunningly impressive hotels we have ever stayed in. From the moment you arrive and are greeted personally, everything feels incredibly luxurious and beautifully executed. Our room was spectacular, with breathtaking floor-to-ceiling windows and incredible views across the city and the river. The staff throughout the hotel were exceptionally warm and attentive, and we also absolutely loved the spa experience. Such a stunning and luxurious spa. Ms Phuong gave me the most incredible head massage treatment! The hotel offers a fantastic choice of restaurants across many different cuisines and we loved the breakfast. A big thank you to Ms Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy for her personal attention and giving us a tour of all the truly spectacular suites in the hotel. A really memorable and special stay and we are about to book two more visits to the Reverie in the coming two months. We cant wait to return there soon. Highly recommended!"

"We almost didn’t book The Reverie Saigon because the photos made it look a over the top for our taste, but the excellent reviews and central D1 location convinced us to try it - and we’re very glad we did. We stayed in a Panorama Room with incredible views overlooking Nguyen Hue Walking Street. From arrival to departure, the service was exceptional and the staff went out of their way to make our stay memorable. As we were celebrating our anniversary, our room was beautifully decorated on arrival, and later that evening a bottle of wine and sweets were delivered, which was a lovely surprise and made for a special first night in HCM. The room was spacious and beautifully appointed, with thoughtful touches including his-and-hers sinks, a heated toilet seat, and luxurious Frette linens. Evening turndown included chocolates each night, which was another small detail we really appreciated. The hotel itself is stunning. While the décor is certainly opulent, it feels elegant rather than overwhelming, and there is something beautiful to notice in every corner. The tile work and marble finishes are incredible. Breakfast was excellent, with a wide buffet selection as well as an à la carte menu for additional made-to-order dishes. All of the staff here from check-in, to breakfast, and even the doormen, were friendly, welcoming and always had a smile for us. After exploring the city in the heat of HCM, Reverie Saigon was a luxurious haven to return to each day. We would happily stay here again and would absolutely return on our next visit to Ho Chi Minh City."

"We experienced a very difficult situation after losing our passports on the plane. Despite numerous calls to the airline and the airport, we couldn't find them. Fortunately, Mr. Loc from the hotel was incredibly helpful in assisting us in recovering them. He handled everything professionally and provided excellent support throughout the process. We sincerely thank Mr. Loc and the entire hotel staff for their outstanding service and kindness!"

"The Reverie Siagon was luxurious, amazing service and an awesome place to stay. Staff were delightful and so helpful and friendly. Located in district 1, close to many sights, food, bars and the river. Our room was so beautiful and comfortable, bed and pillows were great. A pillow menu was also available if you needed something more. Breakfast was a wide range of cuisines catering for all tastes. I would definitely recommend this hotel. 10/10. Well done team ❤️❤️"
