PB hotel design editorial

At 461 metres, the Landmark 81 tower pierces Ho Chi Minh City's skyline as Southeast Asia's tallest building — a 81-floor structure designed by Atkins that takes its formal cue from a bundle of bamboo stalks, the tapered blue-glass facades stepping and faceting toward a needle spire that, on mornings when low cloud rolls in from the Saigon River, appears to float entirely free of the city below. Vinpearl Landmark 81 Autograph Collection, the Marriott-affiliated hotel that fills floors 62 through 81 of this Vinhomes Central Park tower, was conceived to make the most of that vertiginous position — every room angled toward the panorama of river delta, colonial rooftops, and the District 1 skyline spreading south. The interiors move between warm champagne-toned lacquered panels and grey upholstered headboards framed by arched gilded detail, the bespoke carpet in each room patterned in interlocking geometric motifs that draw loosely from Vietnamese lattice craft in gold and cobalt. Floor-to-ceiling glazing renders the city an unceasing backdrop. Up on the pool deck, blue mosaic tiles meet a hardwood surround beneath a perforated ceiling with a geometric cut-out pattern that casts scattered light across the loungers — a considered piece of detailing in an interior that might otherwise have leaned entirely on the view. The sky bar above deploys an extraordinary centrepiece chandelier built from suspended amber glass bottles, brass-trimmed bar counters, and polished dark marble underfoot — theatrical in exactly the way the altitude demands.

"Amazing experience everything went smooth thanks to a great staff especially Nhan Clarence our room attendant who made our stay even better my creating magic animals for our 2 year old son every day in our room Every night we had great sweet to welcome us we highly appreciated the details and the bed and linen were also great. The view is amazing and invite you to stay in the hotel all day long to discover the changing lights on the city. The club was the cherry on the top of the cake that made everything very smooth during our stay and cozy space to work during afternoon nap of our kid !"

"We had a wonderful stay at the Autograph Landmark 81. The service was excellent throughout, and every member of staff we met was warm, professional and especially kind to our children. The Club Lounge was a real highlight, with outstanding staff who made every visit enjoyable and relaxed. The food and drinks were very good overall, though a few more savoury options around lunchtime would make the offering even better. The views from the hotel were absolutely amazing and one of the standout features of the stay. While the hotel is not in District 1, we knew this when booking and were perfectly happy with a short cab ride on the days we wanted to visit some of the main sights. Overall, an excellent stay with exceptional service, great lounge facilities and unforgettable views. We would happily stay again."

"This is a nice luxury hotel in an Iconic building - Vietnam's tallest building. The hotel starts at Floor 47, and our room was on the 51st floor. We had a "family room", which is basically two regular rooms close together, connected by a private galley. What I liked: - The hotel, its facilities, and the rooms were luxurious and comfortable. Comparable to other Marriott brands like "Luxury Collection" etc. - There was a tablet/screen in the room that allowed you to control all lights, curtains, AC temperature etc. This was really convenient -- in most hotels light switches are hard to figure out. Here it was super easy. - The views from the room were excellent! - All spaces very clean. - No noise at all - slept beautifully. - Service was great. Always helpful. What was just OK: - The location, while iconic, is about 20 mins taxi ride to the main tourist attractions. What could be improved: - The spa was nice, but the massage was not so good. The therapist was very polite and professional. - This hotel has a popular bar, and there is always a queue of people lining up for the elevators. As a result, the Hotel staff at the main entrance double as bouncers. When we arrived (late evening, tired after a 5 hour flight), the bouncer wouldn't allow us to enter without showing him a reservation. I can understand their point of view, but I found this a bit demeaning. - I requested the guest services to send me an empty bowl -- I have stomach issues and sometimes I can only eat instant noodles. They wanted to charge 200,000 dongs (INR 800, USD 8 approx) for this. I have stayed at many resorts and hotels all over Asia - but I never experienced this. Anyway, I made my Maggi noodles in a coffee mug. Overall, a good hotel. If this is your first time in HCMC, then do stay here. But if I have to visit the city again, I would probably pick a hotel closer to the city centre."
